Our rating system is simple enough. 5 forks overall is the best, and of course 0 forks would be a disaster. 3 categories are used. Cleanliness, Service and Food. Each category can receive a 0-5 and then all the category totals are added, then divided by 3.
Here's an example.
The establishment had a 95 health rating and the overall appearance to our eyes was clean and acceptable. This would warrant 5 forks. But if the health rating would be lower, or our observation detected uncleanliness, then the score would drop, and drop very quickly. Cleanliness is very important.
The service rating is simple enough. Meet our needs in a timely and courteous fashion and you get 5 forks.
The food is rated on choices, appearance, temperature, tastiness and palatability. A huge menu is not always reason to give a high rating, but if you are running a BBQ place and you offer so many items that the BBQ is lost on the menu, then we might have a problem. Choices should remain within your scope.
Appearance is critical. It will have to look good to get a good score.
Cold cole slaw is great. A cold baked potato is not.
Spices can make a great dish greater, but too much can kill a good meal.
Grits are mushy, a hamburger bun should not be.
So, we have a 5 on Cleanliness, a 5 on service, and a 3 on the food. That totals 13, divided by 3 is 4.3333333. Let's round that to 4.5 and we have our final total.
Simple enough? Yep.
